Overview: Date: December 10, 2009 Place: Leif Erikson Hall, 2245 NW 57th, Seattle, WA 98107 Time: 6:00 – 8:30 pm Cost: $35.00
History
Commander Carl M. Moe, U.S. Navy (1890-1989), organized the first Fishermen’s Night event at the Gowman Hotel on March 5, 1950. In 1970, Arne Einmo, whose family has long been active in the seafood industry, originated the King Neptune Seafood and Social Hour. In 1995, a King Neptune Award program was started to recognize persons who have made outstanding contributions to further the economic growth and well-being of the North Pacific fishing industry.
This year we are celebrating the 59th annual Fishermen’s Night on Thursday, December 10, 2009 from 6:00 – 8:30pm. The King Neptune Award will be presented to former Senator Ted Stevens of Alaska who has been instrumental in helping the fishing industry achieve economic growth.
Expect to find outstanding dining on a variety of seafood, a well-supplied bar, an interesting but short program and pleasant camaraderie.
Proceeds from these events have been donated to the Seattle Fishermen’s Memorial, North Pacific Fishing Vessel Owners’ Safety Training Program, the Dutch Harbor/Unalaska Trauma Clinic, the Norwegian Commercial Club’s Scholarship Fund, the Youth Maritime Training Association-Ballard Maritime Institute, and the Nordic Heritage Museum.
Tickets cost $35 and are available from Lunde Marine Electronics, Pacific Fishermen, Inc., Harris Electric, and Ballard Oil.
